BackgroundAMCI Mountaineering Club, Inc. (formerly the Ayala Mountaineers Club, Inc.) was founded in 1982. It was incorporated in 1983 as a non-stock, non-profit organization. AMCI is committed to SAFETY, CAMARADERIE and ENVIRONMENT – the cornerstones of a RESPONSIBLE MOUNTAINEER. Annually, AMCI conducts its Basic Mountaineering Course training. It is an intensive 4-to-5 months program designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed while in the outdoors; and be the kind of mountaineers and Eco-advocates who are both admired and respected. AMCI has organized expeditions to Mt. Apo, Mt. Kanlaon, Mt. Guiting-guiting, Mt. Halcon, Mt. Pinatubo, Mt. Pulag and other mountains in the Philippines and even abroad. Furthermore, AMCI has been to Sagada, Batanes, Camiguin and other destinations in the country. Aside from mountaineering, AMCI members are also into other outdoor sports and hobbies, e.g., SCUBA diving, mountain biking, photography, river rafting, underwater hockey, etc. In addition, AMCI members also participate in multi-discipline sports competitions. AMCI balances its sports and recreation activities with community- and environment-related projects. AMCI is an active member of the Mountaineering Federation of the Philippines, Inc. (MFPI), and the leading advocate of RESPONSIBLE MOUNTAINEERING.
